MAST connects community with artists in their studios
Twenty-two artists and three galleries from the greater McKinney area participated in the 4th Annual McKinney Artist Studio Tour (MAST), a collaboration that provided a unified voice among McKinney’s visual artists to generate awareness of local artists and enhance the public art experience.
This was the fourth year for the artists to open their studios to the community. Each year, the tour surpasses expectations – growing both in the number of artists participating and in the number of people visiting the artists’ studios. The artists are making their entire process of creation visible, giving those who come to the tour a chance to see what goes on behind-the-scenes.
MAST is comprised of McKinney visual artists who create original works of art and art galleries who promote local artists. This fall’s show embodied the group’s heart-felt mission, which is to introduce the public to artists in their studios and to spark interest in the processes, materials and ideas related to art.

Although the artists work in diverse ways with a wide variety of media, they all share a passion for creating art. Some are critically acclaimed artists whose work has been collected world-wide. Others are emerging on the art scene. The McKinney Artist Studio Tour brings together this selection of artists at various stages in their careers. MAST gives the public a chance to explore the ways in which the artists approach their art practices through the use of techniques, materials and processes.
